The Outdoor Lab welcomes Arlington families to experience the Lab during various events on weekends. Please look on our News Page for our Spring and Fall Open Houses or open Volunteer Work Days. For some events, waiver forms (found below) are required from each participant.
Individuals
The Outdoor Lab counts on volunteers to help with a variety of tasks both at the Outdoor Lab facility in Fauquier County and from home or work in Arlington. If you’d like to get involved, please complete our brief Volunteer Interest Form and we’ll find a role that fits your interests and available time.
Groups
The Outdoor Lab welcomes groups from Arlington who wish to help us maintain the Outdoor Lab. Previous supporters have included:
- APS Schools — PTAs, Classes and Clubs, Teacher Groups
- Scout Troops
- Youth Groups –National Honor Society, Youth Sport Teams
- Civic Associations, Garden Clubs, Church Groups, Business Volunteers

- Group Use Agreement
After you submit your Volunteer Interest Form, our Volunteer Coordinator will be in touch to discuss your project. Your project is not approved until you:
- submit a Group Use Agreement via email to [email protected];
- submit ODL Volunteer Waiver for all volunteers participating in your project; and
- provide Insurance Certificate (if required).
Partners
The Outdoor Lab also partners with Educational and Environmental organizations that can leverage our property or facilities and contribute to our mission. Please submit the Volunteer Interest Form if interested in scheduling a volunteer day at the Outdoor Lab.
