Anthony (aka  Mr. Moose) worked at the Outdoor Lab from 1991-2023. Anthony grew up in Arlington and attended APS schools. He helped build the original Outdoor Lab tipi as an Eagle Scout project.

Anthony, an Arlington native, discovered his dream job at the Outdoor Lab. In 1991, he joined the Lab’s staff, dedicating nearly three decades to making it a welcoming space for the community. Anthony’s enthusiasm and contributions developing innovative programs inspired thousands of students to connect with nature.

His commitment to environmental education led him to pursue numerous certifications for educating in the outdoors, including Red Card Wildland Firefighter and Wilderness First Responder. Anthony also expanded his expertise through university work at Prescott College, Northern Virginia Community College, and the University of Virginia. He has certifications as a Virginia Master Naturalist, Prescribed Burn Manager, Project Learning Tree, Project WILD, Project WET, and Flora of Virginia Ambassador Program.

The Lab became a second home for Anthony, his wife Na, and their three children. After retiring from Arlington Public Schools, Anthony embarked on a successful real estate career showing versatility in new professional arenas.

Now based in Luray, Virginia, Anthony continues his environmental stewardship as President of the Friends of Shenandoah River State Park and  as a certified master naturalist with the Headwaters Chapter.  He remains deeply involved in education throughout the state’s schools and parks. His legacy at the Outdoor Lab and ongoing efforts continue to inspire new generations of nature enthusiasts.
