A High School trip to the Outdoor Lab

High school classroom teachers work with the Lab director to tailor a day of activities to fit their students’ needs, such as:

  • Interpretive Nature Hike:  Students take a guided hike along some of the Lab’s five miles of trails to explore mature hardwood forests, mountain streams, and other native habitats while learning about the natural and cultural history of the Outdoor Lab site.
  • Habitat Study:  In the field, students compare biotic and abiotic components in aquatic habitats (pond vs. stream) and terrestrial habitats (forest vs. meadow).
